The knowledge in books leaps off the pages. When fingertips touch the real branches, a campus natural journey about exploration and love is waiting for the students to embark upon. In mid-October 2025, the biology teachers of the Junior High School Department of the east campus extended their classes to the campus, organizing students to participate in the tree identification and tree label hanging activities.
First and foremost, the activity began with a 'fun game for plant survey'. Specifically, students worked in groups, holding the plant survey forms in their hands, listening attentively as the teachers gave a detailed introduction to the plants on campus. From the shapes of the leaves to the patterns, from the growth habits to the unique value, every clue is a key to the answer. During group discussions, the exchanges, the nervous heartbeats during quick responses, and the jubilant cheers when answering correctly, all turned the acquisition of knowledge into an entertaining competition. Meanwhile, the group with the highest score would be awarded exclusive honors.
Furthermore, each group of students took charge of one type of campus plant. Holding carefully made tree labels in their hands, students meticulously hung the labels on the branches. Moreover, not only did the small tree labels list the scientific names, families, and characteristics of the plants, but also carried students' deep affection for the campus flora. Thus, from now on, every silent tree had its own 'identity card', waiting for more people to understand its story.
In addition, 'Exploring Campus Plants' kept the exploration going without stopping. Each group of students would also receive a campus plant distribution map, who needed to accurately mark the locations of each plant on the map by following the previously hung tree signs. Also, from the trees beside the teaching buildings to the shrubs along the playground, students walked while identifying, searching and drawing, familiarizing themselves with every corner of the campus during their walk and strengthening their memory of the plants through marking. Therefore, when a complete 'campus plant map' was finally in hand, a sense of achievement and a feeling of belonging to the campus also gradually intensified.
Last but not the least, 'Understanding Trees-Signing Up-Loving Campus', the significance of this process goes far beyond the acquisition of biological knowledge. More remarkably, students got to know the plants and creatures in the campus, with the plants and trees in the campus becoming more familiar and closer to them. Besides, the sense of awe towards nature has also strengthened. Thus, it's hoped that every student can become a 'guardian' of the earth's creatures, allowing greenness and vitality to always remain in our hearts.
In a nutshell, while observing and exploring each flower, each tree, and each world, we discover new knowledge.
